WELCOME TO MODA FABRICS
Do not disturb...
Do not disturb...
As in... don't bother me, I'm sewing.
How cute are these door hangers? You want one, don't you?
They're easy peasy - a Free Download from The Moda Cutting Table's Fun & Free tab - third from the left. It can be found under Free Printables - first row on the left.
(At least I think it's the left... I get it wrong sometimes. Okay, a lot.)
Created by our uber-awesome webmistress, these door hangers are perfect for your sewing room, as a gift for your sewing and quilting friends, for your quilt guild buddies, etc. All you need is a printer, paper and scissors. If you want to get fancy, add cardstock, laminating plastic and a corner clipper... but I'll get to that in a minute.
First, download the file to your computer or "tech toy/device". Print out the page - actual size - on 8 1/2" x 11" regular paper or cardstock. I printed these out on 110 lb. cardstock at the office copy-place. If desired, laminate the printed sheet.
I'm sorry for the glare - that's the downside of the laminate.
Using a rotary cutter, ruler and mat, trim the door on the dotted lines.
If you can cut the center out with your rotary cutter... will you show me how?
I had to use scissors.
It's easier if you cut all the way into the center, almost to the opposite side.
That's it... unless you want to get a little bit fancier.
That's a "corner rounder" tool - I got it at a crafts store. (The one that starts with an "M".)
I can tell you that it does "most" of the corners cleanly - the first time. A few... it doesn't quite cut through the entire laminate. Trimming with scissors was required.
I decided to trim the outside edges of the hanger-opening because they can get caught up or bumped when the hanger is being put on. That was because of the hangers I'd trimmed and experimented with that weren't laminated. But with laminating, I don't think it's as big of an issue.
And now everybody in the office has one.

12 Months - 12 Designers - 12 Contests continues with the nice ladies of Sweetwater.
If it's designed by Sweetwater, you can use it. I'd name all the collections but there are twenty-six including two that aren't quite available yet. (Twenty-seven if you count the one coming in the next catalog...)
Piecing, appliqué, embroidery, whatever you prefer. Post it on Instagram with the hashtags #12contestssweetwater and #sweetwaterfabric, and tag Sweetwater - @sweetwaterfabric. If you're not on Instagram, you can e-mail your photos to them.
There will be nine winners selected on March 5th - each will receive a "big box" of Sweetwater fabric, including some that isn't in shops yet.
For more information - Sweetwater 12 Contests.
Print the door hanger so nobody will pester you while you're making your 6" blocks for the contest!
