Quiltstock 2018!

A few months ago, we shared the first details of an exciting retreat created just for you by the fun-loving folks at Martingale Publishing and Moda Fabrics.

Now there's so much more to share about the whats, wheres, whens, whos and reallys?  You know, everything you might not already know but should... just in case you might want to go QuiltStock-ing with us.

Here's what I can tell you:

  • When ~ July 23-27, 2018.
  • Where ~ the Magnolia Hotel-Park Cities in Dallas, Texas  (Yes, you do have to stay at this hotel.)
  • What ~ Fun.  Adventure.  Old friends.  New friends.  Laughing - a lot of it.
  • Why?  Because the projects are great, there's sure to be all kinds of extras and four days of sewing with friends?

We know... July in Dallas, Texas.  It will be hot.  It will probably be humid.  But we'll be inside laughing, sewing, laughing and enjoying being with other passionate, creative people.  And there's a really nice indoor pool at the Magnolia Hotel.  Here's what to expect...

Just in case you don't already know everything about everybody:
(These aren't all the actual projects... I need images of those but I'll share as soon as I have them.)

Lisa Bongean - designer, author, owner of Primitive Gatherings, genius, and super-fast, super-stitcher of many things.  She's going to teach you how to love tiny piecing, wool applique and probably fifty other things.

Barbara Groves & Mary Jacobson of Me & My Sister Designs - designers, creators of the Double-Wide Dresden Ruler, authors and Queens of the pre-cut.  They'll keep you laughing while you stitch up a fast, wonderful quilt top.

Kathy Schmitz - painter, designer, artist and master-embroiderer.  Kathy will make sure that your stitches are what they should be, that you're not making knots when you're not supposed to be (or maybe that's just me that needs to learn that...), and all sorts of terrific finishing techniques.

Carrie Nelson - This is our class project!  Opening Day - it's one of my all-time favorite quilt patterns.  We'll be making this while I do my best to convince you that some of the pieces are called half-triangle squares and not half-square triangles.  And we'll make flying geese.  A lot of them.  But we'll have fun.

Moda's own Lissa Alexander - ModaLissa - will be there.  (I'll bet you can get her to sign your copy of her awesome Oh, Scrap! book... just saying.)  Jennifer Keltner, the Chief Visionary Officer at Martingale will be here, along with several members of her crew.  The Moda Crew?  They'll be around too.  There's a rumor that "The Moda Man" himself is planning to drop in to say Hi.

If you come in a day early, we'll also be taking a day-trip on July 23 to go to Waco to visit/shop/enjoy Magnolia Market.  Chip and Joanna!

The Silos Bakery is there.  And there's shopping.

(It's better in person.)

While it will be terrific, I think the bus trip to and from Waco is going to be the real treat.  Fun, games, prizes and who-knows-what-else is in the works.
